Which venue in Leicester is hosting Annie?
The show is part of the 2026–2027 UK and Ireland tour and will be staged at Curve Theatre, Leicester’s major venue for large scale musicals and home of the original production this tour revives.
What performance times can I expect in Leicester?
Tour listings confirm dates from 9 to 14 March 2027, with a standard schedule of evening performances across the week, typically around 7:30 pm.
Curve’s past runs of Annie have also included matinees on selected midweek and weekend dates, so audiences can expect a mix of daytime and evening shows.
What is the plot of Annie?
Annie is set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression and follows a brave young orphan forced to live a life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
Her luck changes when she is chosen to spend a fairytale Christmas with famous billionaire Oliver Warbucks, while spiteful Miss Hannigan hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search for her true family, told through songs like It’s the Hard-Knock Life, Easy Street, I Don’t Need Anything But You, and Tomorrow.
Has Annie won any major awards?
Annie has a Tony Award winning book and score and originally won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, for its first Broadway production.
This award winning status has helped make it one of musical theatre’s best loved family shows, with successful West End runs and touring productions including Curve’s revival.
Who is starring in Annie in Leicester?
The Leicester dates form part of the 2026–2027 tour, and current tour information notes that the role of Miss Hannigan for this leg is still to be announced.
Confirmed production details highlight that Curve’s artistic director Nikolai Foster directs, with a full company of adult and child performers bringing Annie, Oliver Warbucks, Grace Farrell, and the orphans to life.
Is Annie suitable for children and families?
Curve describes Annie as the world’s favourite family musical, with an uplifting story, colourful staging, and memorable songs suitable for audiences of all ages.
Most families find it especially suitable for school age children, as any tense or emotional scenes are balanced by humour, big musical numbers, and a reassuringly happy ending.
How long does the Annie performance last in Leicester?
The Annie musical typically runs for about two and a half hours including an interval, matching the running time given for other major productions.
This allows the full story and all key musical numbers to unfold at a comfortable pace, with a break in the middle so audiences can rest and refresh.
How much do tickets cost for Annie in Leicester?
Ticket providers indicate multiple price bands for Annie at Curve, with cheaper seats in upper or side sections and higher prices for central stalls or premium areas.
Final prices will be confirmed when tickets go on sale, so checking Curve’s box office or authorised agents is important if you are working to a specific budget.
How can I get cheap tickets for Annie in Leicester?
To keep costs down, focus on early week performances and any daytime matinees, as these often start at lower prices than Friday and Saturday nights.
Compare different seating zones at Curve, consider balcony or side view seats, and look out for early booking offers, membership perks, or group discounts that can reduce the overall cost.
Are there tips for last minute cheaper tickets?
For last minute plans, keep checking Curve’s booking pages close to each performance, as returns or extra seat releases may appear and sometimes be better value than early premium options.
If you are flexible about which day you attend and where you sit, you have a better chance of finding discounted or late release tickets before the run ends.
Can I use ticket resale to save money for Annie in Leicester?
Resale tickets can occasionally be cheaper, but only buy from reputable resale platforms or official partners that clearly show seat locations and use secure payment methods.
Avoid purchasing from unverified sellers or informal social media posts, as those tickets may not be valid and you could risk losing both your money and your chance to see the show.
Why is Annie a good choice for a Leicester theatre trip?
Annie combines a rags to riches story set at Christmas time with a Tony Award winning score, energetic choreography, and a large ensemble of adults and children, creating a feel good experience for all ages.
Its mid March 2027 run at Curve Leicester, where this revival originated, makes it a standout option for a spring theatre outing in the city for families, couples, and groups of friends.
