Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter lead cast in Eurotrash stage adaptation

The Young Vic has confirmed additional casting for its 2026 production of Eurotrash, featuring Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter. The adaptation of Christian Kracht’s novel explores family ties and Europe’s troubled history.

The stage adaptation of Eurotrash, based on Christian Kracht’s novel and adapted by Colin Teevan, will be staged at the Young Vic’s Main House from 13 November 2026 to 9 January 2027. The play centres on a blocked novelist summoned to Zurich by his mother, embarking on a journey across Switzerland to give away her fortune, which stems from arms investments and dairy products.

Leading the cast are Kathryn Hunter and Ben Whishaw, reprising their involvement in the production. They will be joined by Deanna H Choi, Glyn Pritchard, and understudies Annabel Arden and Chris Jared.

The creative team includes set and costume design by Lizzie Clachan alongside lighting design by Richard Howell. Deanna H Choi contributes both composition and sound design, supported by Charlie Smith on sound, while Jozef Houben directs movement.

The production’s associate director is Romana Meyat, with Lydia McKinley serving as Jerwood assistant director. The show benefits from support by the Charlotte Aitken Trust.

This adaptation offers a layered examination of family dynamics intertwined with broader European historical themes through its narrative and production elements. The announcement of the full cast and creative team underscores the Young Vic’s commitment to innovative theatrical projects.
