Which venue in Dublin is hosting Annie?
The show is part of the 2026 UK and Ireland tour and will be staged at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, one of Ireland’s leading venues for large scale musical productions.
What are the performance dates and likely times in Dublin?
Performances run from 11 to 16 August 2026, with evening shows on most days of the week during the limited run.
There are usually additional matinee performances on selected midweek or weekend dates, with evenings typically starting around 7:30 pm and matinees in the afternoon.
What is the plot of Annie?
Annie is set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression and follows a brave young orphan forced to live a life of hardship at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
Her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, leading to a heartfelt story about hope, family, and optimism, told through songs like It’s the Hard Knock Life, Easy Street, You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile, and Tomorrow.
Has Annie won any major awards?
Annie is a classic Broadway musical that originally opened in the 1970s and went on to win seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Its award winning book and score have helped make it one of the world’s most popular family shows, frequently revived in the West End and on tour around the globe.
Who is starring in Annie in Dublin?
The Dublin dates form part of the 2026 tour, and producers have confirmed that casting for Miss Hannigan and other principal roles will be announced closer to the run.
A full company of adult and child performers will bring Annie, Oliver Warbucks, Grace Farrell, the orphans, and the wider New York world of the show to life on stage.
Is Annie suitable for children and families?
Annie is widely promoted as a family friendly musical, with a simple, easy to follow story, colourful staging, and plenty of humour and music that appeal to all ages.
Most families find it ideal for school age children, as any darker or tense moments are balanced by comedy, warmth, and a reassuringly happy ending.
How long does the Annie performance last in Dublin?
The Annie musical typically runs for about two and a half hours including an interval, similar to many other big musical theatre productions.
This running time allows the full story and all the major musical numbers to unfold at a comfortable pace, with a break in the middle so audiences can rest and refresh.
How can I get cheap tickets for Annie in Dublin?
To keep costs down, look at midweek performances and matinees rather than peak Friday and Saturday evenings, as these often have lower prices or better seat availability.
Compare prices in different seating areas such as the upper levels or side sections, and check for early booking offers, family deals, or group rates that can bring the overall cost down.
Are there tips for last minute cheaper tickets?
For last minute plans, keep checking close to the performance date, as returned tickets or extra seat releases sometimes appear and can offer good value compared with earlier premium options.
If you are flexible about which day you attend and where you sit, you have a better chance of picking up discounted or late release tickets before the show sells out.
Can I use ticket resale to save money for Annie in Dublin?
Resale tickets can sometimes be cheaper, but only buy from reputable resale services or official partners that clearly show seat locations and use secure payment methods.
Avoid buying from unverified sellers or informal social media posts, as those tickets may not be valid and you could risk losing both your money and your chance to see the show.
Why is Annie a good choice for a Dublin theatre trip?
Annie combines a moving rags to riches story with an award winning score, energetic choreography, and a large ensemble of adults and children, creating a lively, feel good atmosphere.
Its one week run at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in August 2026 makes it a strong choice for a summer theatre outing in Dublin, whether you are planning a family night out or a special trip with friends.
