Why You Need to See It

• Hooray For Hollywood is a one-night-only West End concert at the Duchess Theatre, turning classic and contemporary movie musical hits into a live film-score spectacular with the intimacy of a cabaret and the polish of a big-screen gala.
• The show features some of the best loved songs of our movie-musical lives, from The Jazz Singer era through The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story and Wicked to modern favourites like La La Land, creating a nostalgic yet fresh journey through Hollywood history.
• Liza Pulman and Joe Stilgoe bring serious musical theatre and jazz credentials, blending powerful vocals, close harmonies and playful patter so the evening feels part concert, part comedy show and part film-lover’s mixtape.
• The arrangements reimagine famous film songs for a live band, giving you the thrill of hearing familiar melodies with new jazz inflections, vocal duets and inventive medleys that highlight the craft behind Hollywood’s greatest scores.
• Costumes and styling nod to golden-age glamour, with stagewear that evokes red-carpet sparkle and vintage nightclub chic rather than full character costumes, keeping the focus on the music while still delivering Hollywood visual flair.
• Instead of a linear plot, the show is curated like a lovingly assembled movie playlist, with stories, anecdotes and trivia linking the songs so film fans can appreciate both the context and the craftsmanship behind each number.
• The tone is light, witty and celebratory, making it ideal for audiences who enjoy classic musicals but prefer a relaxed concert format over a full book musical with heavy narrative or complex staging.
• Hooray For Hollywood is suitable for a wide audience, with recognisable family-friendly songs and gentle humour, making it a strong choice for mixed-age groups, date nights or theatre trips with friends who might be new to the West End.
• Critical responses to the tour highlight sparkling vocals, tight musical direction and warm chemistry between the performers, so you can expect a high-quality live music experience rather than a simple tribute show.
• Because the Duchess Theatre performance is part of a limited UK tour and currently scheduled for a single London date, it has a special event feel: once it is gone, you may have to travel regionally to catch it again.
