Frequently Asked Questions

When is Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical in Cardiff?

Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical is scheduled to play at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff from 20 April to 24 April 2027, as part of its UK and Ireland tour.

What is Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical about?

The musical retells the story behind the 1985 Live Aid concerts, following Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, and the people around them as they race to stage a global charity event for famine relief in Ethiopia. It blends real historical moments with fictional characters, showing how ordinary people, musicians, and organisers came together to turn a bold idea into a world-changing concert.

How long does the show last?

The performance typically runs for around two and a half hours including an interval, which is standard for a big musical. This gives you time to enjoy the full story and music, so plan your travel, drinks, and any after-show plans around a full evening at the theatre.

Has Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical won any awards or recognition?

The production has earned strong five-star reviews in London and has been highlighted in national theatre press as a standout new jukebox musical. Its cast recording and creative team have also received special recognition and coverage in music and theatre media, helping to build its reputation ahead of the UK and Ireland tour.

What kind of music and songs are in the show?

The musical features songs made famous by artists who performed at Live Aid, including Queen, U2, David Bowie, Elton John, The Who, and many more rock and pop legends. These hits are woven into the story so that big numbers land at key emotional moments, giving familiar songs new context on stage.

Is the show suitable for children and families?

The show includes loud rock-style music, crowd scenes, and serious themes like famine and global politics, so it is generally best for teenagers and older children rather than very young kids. Families who enjoy live music, 1980s nostalgia, and real-life stories will find plenty to talk about afterwards, from the songs to the message about helping others.

Are there rush tickets or day seats available in Cardiff?

Many big venues now run rush or day seat schemes where a small number of same-day tickets are sold at lower prices, often through theatre apps or the box office. For Cardiff, check closer to the time whether the Wales Millennium Centre is offering day seats or app-based rush tickets, and be ready to book quickly or queue early if they are.

Can I save money by choosing different seats?

Yes, choosing seats higher up or slightly further from the stage can cut the price while still giving you a good view of the staging and hearing the music clearly. Restricted-view seats can also be cheaper, and for a concert-style musical like this, many people are happy to trade a small pillar or rail in view for a lower ticket price.

Do groups or families get discounts?

Theatres often offer group rates when you buy a block of tickets, which can reduce the price per person for school trips, clubs, or large family outings. It is worth checking with the venue’s group booking team, who can explain minimum numbers, available performances, and any payment deadlines so you can plan ahead.
