Operation Mincemeat runs at Mayflower Theatre Southampton from Tuesday 17 November to Saturday 21 November 2026, with evening performances at 7.30pm and a 2.00pm matinee on Wednesday 18 November.

What is Operation Mincemeat about?

Operation Mincemeat is a fast-paced, hilarious and unbelievable true story about a 1943 British intelligence mission where the Allies gamble everything on a stolen corpse, forged papers and a fake love letter to trick Hitler and help win the Second World War.

Which awards has Operation Mincemeat won?

The show is the 2024 Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical and winner of two Olivier Awards, has earned 88 five-star reviews making it the best-reviewed show in West End history, and it is also a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical with multiple Tony nominations including Best Musical and a Tony win for Jak Malone as Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Why is Operation Mincemeat so popular in Southampton?

Mayflower Theatre and local listings describe Operation Mincemeat as London’s biggest hit and a brand new British musical that has conquered both the West End and Broadway, so its limited run in Southampton is a major event and an opportunity for South Coast audiences to see the show without travelling to London or New York.

How long does the performance of Operation Mincemeat last?

The performance lasts approximately 2 hours 35 minutes including an interval, so you should plan for about two and a half hours in the theatre from curtain up to the final bows.

Is Operation Mincemeat suitable for children?

The age advice for Mayflower Theatre is recommended 5+, but under 2s are not allowed and the show includes wartime themes, strobe lighting, haze effects and loud sound effects, so it is generally best for older children, teenagers and adults who are comfortable with war stories and dark humour.

How can I get cheap tickets for Operation Mincemeat in Southampton?

To keep costs down, look at Tuesday and Wednesday performances where price zones start from £29.50, compare price zones across the £29.50–£49.50 range, and use membership, group or school discounts which can significantly reduce the per-ticket price for certain performances.

What discounts and group offers are available?

Mayflower Theatre offers Executive and Executive Plus membership discounts of 20% off or £6 off top prices on selected nights, £5–£6 off for groups of 10 or 20 plus one free ticket per 20 paid, £5 off for Access Members and school and youth groups tickets at £19.50 on Tuesday to Thursday with a free supervisor place for every 10 young people.

Is it better to book Operation Mincemeat early or last minute in Southampton?

Booking early is sensible because discounted membership, access and group allocations, as well as the best central seats and cheaper price zones, can sell quickly for this one‑week run, but if you are flexible you might sometimes find remaining or dynamically priced seats closer to the date.

Which seats offer the best value at Mayflower Theatre?

Seats in the mid-price zones that still offer a good view of the stage usually give the best balance between cost and experience, while the very cheapest seats are in the lowest price zones further from the stage and may suit those who prioritise budget over proximity.

Are there any access options for Operation Mincemeat in Southampton?

Access Members receive £5 off across all price zones, and Mayflower Theatre provides detailed access information, so patrons with access needs can book discounted tickets and suitable seating by contacting the theatre or checking its access pages before booking.

What kind of music and atmosphere does Operation Mincemeat have?

The musical features a witty, modern score described as “Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train,” with a small cast playing many roles, sharp lyrics and high‑energy staging, creating a night that feels like a blend of spy thriller, farce and emotionally grounded wartime drama.

Why should I see Operation Mincemeat in Southampton?

Seeing Operation Mincemeat in Southampton lets you experience an Olivier and Tony Award‑winning British musical with a wild true story, rave reviews and strong local discounts in one of the South Coast’s biggest theatres, often at lower cost and with less travel than a trip to the West End or Broadway.
