Victoria Wood and Tom MacRae’s Fourteen Again to debut in London at Menier Chocolate Factory

Fourteen Again, a new musical by Victoria Wood and Tom MacRae, will receive its London premiere this winter at the Menier Chocolate Factory. The production reunites original cast members Ria Jones and Sally Ann Triplett in a story of friendship and renewal.

Fourteen Again, featuring music and lyrics by Victoria Wood with a book by Everybody’s Talking About Jamie writer Tom MacRae, will open at the Menier Chocolate Factory on 2 December. The run will include previews from 21 November and continue until 27 February 2027.

The musical follows Peggy, who reconnects with her former best friend Lou through a local slimming club, exploring themes of friendship, nostalgia, and renewal via Wood’s songs. The piece had its world premiere earlier this year at the Victoria Wood Theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Original cast members Ria Jones and Sally Ann Triplett will reprise their roles as Lou and Peggy respectively for the London debut. Both performers have a history with Wood’s work: Triplett originated the role of Miss Berta in Acorn Antiques in the West End, while Jones appeared in The Angina Monologues.

The production is directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, with musical supervision, arrangement, and co-orchestration by Nigel Lilley. Choreography is by Sammy Murray, supported by set designer Roger Glossop and costume designer Caroline Hughes.

Lighting design is led by Jason Taylor, and sound design is by Sam Glossop. Musical direction and co-orchestration come from Archie McMorran, while associate designer Caroline Dalton completes the creative team.

Casting beyond Jones and Triplett will be announced shortly. The London staging follows a positive reception at its world premiere, including a favourable review by WhatsOnStage critic Sarah Crompton.
