Frequently Asked Questions

When is Operation Mincemeat at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen?

Operation Mincemeat runs at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen from Tuesday 11 August to Saturday 15 August 2026, with evening performances at 7.30pm across the week.

What is Operation Mincemeat about?

Operation Mincemeat is a musical comedy about a real Second World War British deception mission, where a small team of intelligence officers use a stolen corpse, forged documents and an invented love story to trick the Nazis and help change the course of the war.

Which awards has Operation Mincemeat won?

The show has received six Olivier Award nominations and has won Best New Musical and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Jak Malone, and it has also earned four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, with Malone winning the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Why is Operation Mincemeat so popular in Aberdeen?

Operation Mincemeat is promoted as a 2024 Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical, one of the best-reviewed shows in West End history and a Tony-nominated Broadway hit, so its world-tour visit to Aberdeen is a rare chance for local audiences to see a major London and New York success at His Majesty’s Theatre.

How long does the performance of Operation Mincemeat last?

The show runs for about 2 hours 35 minutes including a 20-minute interval, so you should plan for roughly two and a half hours in the theatre from curtain up to the final bows.

Is Operation Mincemeat suitable for children?

Patrons of all ages are welcome, but the show includes wartime themes, loud sound effects and some strong language, so it is generally recommended for older children, teenagers and adults, and families should consider how comfortable younger theatregoers are with war stories and dark humour.

How can I get cheap tickets for Operation Mincemeat in Aberdeen?

To find cheaper tickets, look at midweek performances, choose seats in lower price bands further back or higher up in the auditorium, and compare face-value prices via the venue and official ticket agents before you decide on a date and section.

Are there any discounts or special offers available?

You may be able to save with theatre membership discounts, concessions, group rates and occasional promotional deals, so checking Aberdeen Performing Arts and official sales channels for offers can help reduce the overall ticket cost.

Is it better to book Operation Mincemeat early or last minute in Aberdeen?

Booking early is sensible because the best central seats and cheaper price bands can sell quickly for this one-week run, but if you are flexible you may occasionally find remaining seats or dynamic price drops closer to the performance date.

Which seats offer the best value at His Majesty’s Theatre?

Mid-priced seats in the stalls and front of the dress circle usually balance a clear view with a reasonable price, while higher or more distant seats in the upper circle are often the cheapest option if you mainly want to keep ticket costs low.

What kind of music and atmosphere does Operation Mincemeat have?

The musical features glam‑punk and pop‑inflected songs, fast and witty lyrics and a small cast playing many roles, creating a sharp‑witted, high‑energy night that feels like a mix of spy thriller, sketch comedy and emotionally grounded wartime drama.

Why should I see Operation Mincemeat in Aberdeen?

Seeing Operation Mincemeat in Aberdeen lets you experience an Olivier and Tony Award‑winning British musical with a bizarre true story, acclaimed performances and a unique comic voice in one of Scotland’s major theatres, without needing to travel to London or New York.
