Operation Mincemeat runs at New Theatre Cardiff from Tuesday 15 September to Saturday 19 September 2026, with evening performances at 7.30pm and matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm.

What is Operation Mincemeat about?

Operation Mincemeat is a fast-paced musical comedy based on a real Second World War British deception mission, where a small team of intelligence officers gamble everything on a stolen corpse, forged documents and a made-up love story to trick the Nazis and help win the war.

Which awards has Operation Mincemeat won?

The show has been nominated for 64 awards and has won 13, including the Olivier Award for Best New Musical and multiple WhatsOnStage and Off-West End awards, and it has also received four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, with Jak Malone winning the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical after previously winning the Olivier in the same category.

Why is Operation Mincemeat so popular in Cardiff?

Operation Mincemeat is billed in Cardiff as the 2024 Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical, London’s biggest hit with over 70 five-star reviews and now a Tony-nominated Broadway sensation, so local audiences are excited to see a critically acclaimed West End and New York show in their home city.

How long does the performance of Operation Mincemeat last?

The running time is about 2 hours 35 minutes including an interval, so you should allow roughly two and a half hours in the theatre from curtain up to the final bows.

Is Operation Mincemeat suitable for children?

The show includes wartime themes, loud sound effects, strong language and some adult humour, so it is generally recommended for older children, teenagers and adults, and parents should think about how comfortable younger family members are with war stories and satire before booking.

How can I get cheap tickets for Operation Mincemeat in Cardiff?

To get cheaper tickets, look at weekday performances, choose seats in lower price bands further back or higher up, and compare prices across dates and official outlets; signing up to mailing lists can also give early access or occasional flash-sale discounts.

Are there any discounts or special offers available?

You may be able to save with concessions, group rates, membership or loyalty schemes and limited-time promotional offers, so checking New Theatre Cardiff’s box office information and the official ticketing site before you buy can help you find the best deal.

Is it better to book Operation Mincemeat early or last minute in Cardiff?

Booking early is sensible because the best central seats and cheaper price bands can sell quickly for this one-week run, but if you are flexible you may occasionally find remaining or discounted tickets closer to the performance date, especially for midweek shows.

Which seats offer the best value at New Theatre Cardiff?

Mid-priced seats in the stalls or front of the circle usually balance a clear view with a reasonable cost, while higher or further-back seats are often the cheapest if keeping the ticket price low matters more than being close to the stage.

What kind of music and atmosphere does Operation Mincemeat have?

The show has a glam‑punk and pop‑inflected score, sharp and witty lyrics and a small cast playing many roles, creating an evening that feels like a blend of spy thriller, high‑energy comedy and emotionally grounded wartime drama.

Why should I see Operation Mincemeat in Cardiff?

Seeing Operation Mincemeat in Cardiff lets you experience an Olivier and Tony Award‑winning British musical with a bizarre true story, acclaimed performances and a passionate fanbase in a central city theatre, without needing to travel to London or New York.
