Full cast revealed for Almeida’s new production of A Doll’s House
The Almeida Theatre in London has announced the full cast for a new staging of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, set to run from 31 March to 16 May 2026. The production, featuring Romola Garai and directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, revisits the classic play’s exploration of marriage and secrets.
The Almeida’s production of A Doll’s House will centre on the character of Nora, trapped in a constricting marriage to Torvald, with tensions escalating when a secret comes to light. Romola Garai, already attached to the project, will lead the cast alongside James Corrigan, Olivier Huband, Tom Mothersdale, and Thalissa Teixeira.
This version of Ibsen’s play has been adapted by Anya Reiss, known for her work on Becoming Elizabeth and The Seagull. Direction is by Joe Hill-Gibbins, whose recent credits include The Tragedy of King Richard the Second and Ghosts.
The creative team also includes set designer Hyemi Shin, costume designer Alex Lowde, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Gareth Fry, and movement director Jenny Ogilvie. This collaborative team aims to bring fresh perspective to Ibsen’s enduring examination of gender roles and societal expectations.
Performances at the Almeida will begin on 31 March and run until 16 May, although ticket details are still to be confirmed. The announcement completes the casting for a production that promises to revisit the classic drama with contemporary urgency.
A Doll’s House remains one of theatre’s most influential dramas, known for its critique of 19th-century marriage conventions. This new production contributes to ongoing conversations about autonomy and identity in modern theatre.
