Where is Mrs Doubtfire showing in Cardiff?

The musical will be performed at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, a major arts venue that hosts large-scale touring musicals, opera, dance, and family shows in its main theatre space.

What is the plot of Mrs Doubtfire the Musical?

The story follows Daniel Hillard, a devoted but disorganised actor and father who loses shared custody of his children after a difficult divorce and is desperate to stay part of their everyday lives. He invents the persona of Euphegenia Doubtfire, an older Scottish nanny, and disguises himself to get hired by his ex-wife, leading to hilarious misunderstandings, energetic musical numbers, and touching scenes as his double life forces him to grow up and become a better parent.

Is the musical similar to the original Mrs Doubtfire film?

The musical keeps the heart of the much-loved 1993 film, with Daniel, Miranda, the children, and the famous nanny disguise all central to the story, along with many key emotional and comic moments. It adds a new original score, modern jokes, and updated staging while still focusing on themes of family, honesty, co-parenting, and second chances, so audiences get both nostalgia and a fresh theatre experience.

Has Mrs Doubtfire the Musical received any awards or nominations?

The Broadway production of Mrs Doubtfire received several notable nominations, including recognition at the Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards for the show and its leading performance. It also won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Wig and Hair Design, highlighting the impressive transformation work that helps bring the character of Mrs Doubtfire to life on stage.

How long does the performance of Mrs Doubtfire usually last?

The show typically runs for about 2 hours and 30 minutes including one interval, which is similar in length to many big musical comedies. It is a good idea to arrive at least 30 minutes before the advertised start time so you have time to get through any checks, find your seat, and settle in before the performance begins.

Is Mrs Doubtfire in Cardiff suitable for children and families?

Mrs Doubtfire is designed as a family-friendly comedy musical with colourful staging, physical humour, and catchy songs that older children and teenagers often enjoy. Because it includes themes of divorce, dating, and some mild language and innuendo, it is generally best suited to families with school-age children rather than very young kids, and parents can decide what feels right for their own family.

How can I get cheap tickets for Mrs Doubtfire in Cardiff?

To find cheaper tickets, compare prices for different dates and seating areas, as midweek performances and seats further from the stage or higher up in the theatre are usually more affordable than peak weekend evenings or premium front stalls. Booking as early as possible normally gives you access to a wider range of lower-priced ticket bands, and being flexible with your date can help you avoid the most expensive performances during school holidays and weekends.

Are there any discounts or special offers for Mrs Doubtfire tickets in Cardiff?

There may be group discounts, advance-booking deals, or occasional promotions available through ticket providers or theatre mailing lists during the Cardiff run. If you plan to go with family or friends, check for group rates, family ticket offers, or off-peak prices for midweek evenings or some matinees, as these can reduce the cost per person.

What is the best time to book tickets if I want to save money?

Booking as soon as you know you want to attend is usually the best way to secure good-value seats before the cheapest sections sell out, especially for a school-holiday run. If your schedule is flexible, look at earlier dates in the run, Tuesday to Thursday performances, or daytime shows rather than the busiest weekend and holiday evenings, and consider seats a little further back for a better balance between view and price.

Will there be accessible performances and facilities for Mrs Doubtfire in Cardiff?

Wales Millennium Centre provides accessible facilities including wheelchair spaces, step-free routes, companion seats, and services such as audio description or captioning at selected performances. When booking for Mrs Doubtfire, you can mention any access needs so you are guided to suitable seating and advised which performance dates include additional accessible services.
