Where is Priscilla Queen of the Desert being performed in Sheffield?

The musical is being performed at the Lyceum Theatre on Norfolk Street in Sheffield city centre, a traditional theatre that hosts major touring West End productions and big musicals.

What is Priscilla Queen of the Desert about?

The story follows three friends – drag performers Tick and Adam and transgender woman Bernadette – who travel across the Australian outback in a battered bus called Priscilla to put on a show and reconnect with family. On their journey they face prejudice, mishaps, and unexpected encounters but also discover friendship, love, and the courage to live openly, all set to a soundtrack of classic disco and pop hits.

Has Priscilla Queen of the Desert won any awards?

The musical is based on the film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design and several other international film awards. On stage, Priscilla has earned Laurence Olivier and Tony Awards for Best Costume Design and a wide range of nominations and awards worldwide for best musical, costumes, choreography, and performances.

What kind of music and performances can I expect?

You can expect a jukebox-style score packed with dance-floor classics and iconic disco anthems such as I Will Survive, It’s Raining Men, Hot Stuff, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and Finally, all performed live with big vocals and high-energy choreography. The Sheffield production features dazzling costumes, feathers, glitter, and show-stopping numbers that create a party atmosphere throughout the night.

How long does the performance in Sheffield last?

The run time is listed at about 2 hours 35 minutes including an interval, so you should plan for a full evening at the theatre. It is sensible to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start time so you can find your seat, visit the bar or toilets, and settle in without rushing.

Is Priscilla Queen of the Desert suitable for children?

The musical includes adult humour, strong language, and themes involving sexuality, homophobia, and gender identity, so it is mainly recommended for older teenagers and adults. Some information lists age guidance from around 12+, but parents of younger teens should think carefully about how comfortable they are with drag performances, innuendo, and mature subject matter before booking.

How can I get cheap tickets for Priscilla in Sheffield?

To find cheaper tickets, look at early-week and midweek performances rather than Friday or Saturday nights, as prices often start lower on these dates. Compare prices for different seating areas, including upper levels or side and restricted-view seats, and book early because the lowest-priced ticket allocations usually sell first.

Are there discounts or special offers available for Sheffield performances?

Discounts may include early booking offers, group rates, concession prices, and occasional promotions or access schemes. Signing up for Sheffield Theatres emails, checking membership or friends schemes, and keeping an eye on access or saver performances can help you find deals.

Can I get last minute tickets for Priscilla Queen of the Desert in Sheffield?

Last minute tickets may be available if some performances are not sold out, and returns or extra seats are sometimes released closer to the performance date. This can be a good way to find cheaper seats if you are flexible about where you sit and which performance you attend, but for busy shows or larger groups it is safer to book ahead.

What is the best way to travel to the Lyceum Theatre Sheffield?

The Lyceum Theatre is in Sheffield city centre, close to Sheffield station and many city bus and tram routes, so public transport is convenient. If you plan to drive, check nearby car parks and evening parking charges in advance, and allow extra time for city centre traffic before the performance.
