Rachel Zegler’s Evita to Transfer from West End to Broadway with Returning Cast

Jamie Lloyd’s acclaimed production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita, starring Rachel Zegler, will transfer from the London Palladium to Broadway. The announcement reveals much of the original West End cast will join the show’s New York run, set for early 2027.

Jamie Lloyd’s production of Evita, which played the London Palladium from June to September 2025, is poised to open on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre. Preview performances begin on 27 February 2027, with an official opening night scheduled for 25 March 2027.

Rachel Zegler reprises her award-winning role as Eva Perón, having won WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards for her performance in London. She will be joined by Olivier and WhatsOnStage nominee Diego Rodriguez as Che and James Olivas making his Broadway debut as Juan Perón.

Bella Brown, who alternated as Eva Perón and played The Mistress in the West End run, will also transfer to Broadway. Brown received a WhatsOnStage Award nomination for her work and will perform as Eva Perón at selected Broadway performances.

The cast is further bolstered by Ángel Lozada as Agustín Magaldi and an extensive ensemble featuring performers such as Giuseppe Bausilio, Mely Berdion, Brandon Borkowsky, and others. Swings for the production include Alexis Hasbrouck, AK Naderer, and Regine Sophia among others.

One of the standout moments of the London production saw Zegler perform “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” live from the Palladium’s exterior balcony to audiences gathered below. The Broadway staging details for this iconic moment have not been confirmed, though this element will not be replicated.

Evita last had a Broadway revival in 2012 starring Elena Roger and Ricky Martin. A 2019 concert staging at New York City Center, directed by Sammi Cannold, did not culminate in a full run.

The Broadway production is produced by Jamie Lloyd for the Jamie Lloyd Company and Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, in association with LW Entertainment. Final casting for The Child and the full creative team will be announced later.

Zegler’s performance schedule will see her miss certain Tuesday shows, various matinees, and select periods throughout the 2027 run, with Bella Brown stepping in on some occasions. Scheduling specifics and ticket information are to be confirmed.
