Where is the show performed in Brighton?

All performances take place at Theatre Royal Brighton on New Road in the city centre, a historic venue with stalls and tiered balconies offering a range of views and ticket prices to suit different budgets.

What is The Ballad of Johnny and June about?

The musical explores the real-life love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, following them from their early days on stage through life on the road, addiction, fame, heartbreak, and redemption, all told through the eyes of their son John Carter Cash and set to many of their most famous songs.

Has The Ballad of Johnny and June won any awards?

The Ballad of Johnny and June premiered in North America, where it earned strong reviews, regional theatre awards, and nominations that praised its performances, direction, and use of live music, helping to build momentum for its large-scale UK and Ireland tour.

What songs and musical style can I expect?

The show features many of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash’s legendary hits alongside additional material, mixing country, rockabilly, gospel, and emotional ballads so audiences can enjoy songs like I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, Jackson, Hey Porter, and I’ve Been Everywhere performed live on stage.

How long does the show last and is there an interval?

The touring production is expected to run for about two and a half hours including an interval, giving enough time to cover key moments from the couple’s lives and a generous selection of songs while still finishing at a comfortable time for evening travel home.

Is the show suitable for children and families?

Theatre Royal Brighton lists an age guidance of 12 and over because the story includes themes such as substance abuse, marital conflict, and emotional intensity, so it is best suited to teenagers and adults rather than very young children.

How can I get cheap tickets for the Brighton dates?

To find cheaper tickets, look at midweek performances instead of Saturday night, compare prices for upper-circle or side seats, book as early as you can before the most popular seats sell out, and watch for special offers or discount codes from mailing lists, local promotions, or theatre newsletters.

Are there discounts or special offers available?

Discounts can include advance booking deals, selected performances with reduced prices, group rates for larger parties, and concessions for certain age groups, so it is worth checking whether there are offers for students, under-26s, seniors, families, or off-peak shows when you are choosing dates.

Can I buy last-minute or same-day tickets?

Last-minute tickets are often available if performances have not sold out, and returns or single seats can sometimes be good value, but popular evenings may be very busy, so flexible theatregoers usually get the best prices by choosing midweek dates and being open to higher or side-view seats.

What is the best way to travel to Theatre Royal Brighton?

Theatre Royal Brighton is in the city centre within easy walking distance of bus routes and Brighton railway station, while drivers should allow extra time for traffic and parking, choose a nearby car park, and check closing times and charges so they are not rushed after the show.

Do I need to know Johnny Cash’s music to enjoy the show?

You do not need to be a Johnny Cash expert to enjoy the musical because it is written as a clear, emotional story about love, fame, and second chances, with the classic songs used to support the drama so long-time fans can relive favourite hits while newcomers discover the music through the storytelling.
