Young Vic reveals final 2026/27 season shows including UK premiere of The Pelicot Trial
The Young Vic has unveiled the last four productions of its 2026/2027 season, featuring Milo Rau’s UK premiere of The Pelicot Trial and a new Kafka adaptation starring Edward Watson. Artistic director Nadia Fall promises a season of innovative and boundary-pushing theatre experiences.
The Young Vic’s concluding 2026/2027 season includes the UK premiere of The Pelicot Trial by Milo Rau and Servane Dècle, performed at London County Hall—the historic venue of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. The documentary theatre piece delves into the 51 men prosecuted in Gisèle Pelicot’s case, using testimonies, police files, and psychiatric reports. A company of 30 actors and public figures will perform the one-off event on 30 November, spotlighting sexual violence and its legal handling.
From 9 to 26 June 2027, the Maria Theatre will host A Hunger Artist, a new adaptation of Franz Kafka’s short story starring former Royal Ballet principal Edward Watson alongside cabaret artist Meow Meow. Directed by choreographer Arthur Pita with live music by Frank Moon, the production reunites the creative team behind the Olivier Award-winning dance adaptation of The Metamorphoses.
The disability-led theatre company FlawBored returns with the London premiere of their latest show, What’s the F**king Point?, running from 2 to 24 April 2027 in the Maria Theatre. Written by Samuel Brewer, Aarian Mehrabani, Chloe Palmer, and Josh Roche—who also directs—the dark satire critiques medical bureaucracy, identity politics, and human desires for significance.
Outside the Young Vic on The Cut, from 24 March to 24 April, innovative theatre company DARKFIELD will present Eulogy. This immersive piece transports audiences to an otherworldly hotel using binaural sound technology and speech recognition in complete darkness, performed within a shipping container.
Artistic director and CEO Nadia Fall emphasised the season’s commitment to unconventional theatre. She described the offerings as “literally and figuratively ‘outside the box’,” highlighting The Pelicot Trial’s break from traditional spaces, DARKFIELD’s binaural experience, the witty and subversive satire by FlawBored, and the physical storytelling of Kafka’s tale by the Pita-Watson-Meow Meow team.
Alongside these productions, the Young Vic announced The Directors’ Cut, a new initiative to support directors at all career stages, as well as an expansion of its Neighbourhood Theatre programme, signalling a wider dedication to fostering theatre-making talent and community engagement.
