Hadestown extends first UK and Ireland tour with new 2027 venues
The West End musical Hadestown has expanded its inaugural UK and Ireland tour with additional dates announced for 2027. The tour will visit several new regional venues following its opening at Curve, Leicester, marking a notable expansion of its nationwide reach.
Hadestown, the Tony-winning musical by Anaïs Mitchell, will extend its first UK and Ireland tour with added performances at multiple venues throughout 2027. Initially set to open at Curve in Leicester on 19 February, the tour now includes dates at Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton, New Victoria Theatre in Woking, New Theatre in Oxford, and New Wimbledon Theatre.
The musical, which previously ran at the National Theatre before transferring to London’s West End, has earned eight Tony Awards including Best Musical in 2019. It also received two WhatsOnStage Awards, recognising Melanie La Barrie as Best Supporting Performer in a Musical and the production’s musical direction.
Hadestown blends modern American folk music with New Orleans jazz influences to reimagine the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, alongside the figures of King Hades and Persephone. This innovative storytelling approach has proven popular with both national and international audiences.
While casting details for the touring production are yet to be confirmed, Hadestown continues its run at the Lyric Theatre in London. The new tour dates signal the production’s growing presence outside London, bringing the show to audiences across the UK.
This expansion of Hadestown’s tour aligns with a broader trend of successful West End musicals undertaking extensive regional tours, making acclaimed theatre more accessible beyond the capital.
