Ceilidh musical secures new venue and dates for UK premiere at Pitlochry
Pitlochry Festival Theatre has confirmed new arrangements for the UK premiere of the musical Ceilidh, which will now run at Pitlochry Town Hall in October. The show forms part of Alan Cumming’s inaugural season as artistic director during the theatre’s 75th anniversary.
The UK premiere of Ceilidh will take place at Pitlochry Town Hall from 7 to 17 October. This new scheduling aligns the production with the festival theatre’s landmark 75th year, under the artistic direction of Alan Cumming.
Written by Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie, who collaborate under the name Noisemaker, Ceilidh delves into the atmosphere of a traditional Scottish social gathering. At its heart is a caller and folk band, as well as a family story exploring themes of relationships and inheritance.
The musical will be directed and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton, whose recent work includes Oh, Mary! and the fresh Broadway staging of The Rocky Horror Show. The production features a cast of emerging Scottish performers.
Ceilidh is produced by Pitlochry Festival Theatre in partnership with Grove Entertainment, Barbara Whitman, and Trafalgar Theatre Productions. Tickets are currently available to theatre members, with general public sales opening at 10am on Monday 13 April.
Further information and tickets can be accessed via the Pitlochry Festival Theatre website or the box office. The scheduling and venue shift highlight the flexibility surrounding the UK premiere of this North American import.
As part of Pitlochry’s milestone season, Ceilidh adds to a programme reflecting new artistic directions under Cumming’s leadership, while spotlighting Scottish cultural and familial narratives in a musical format.
