Matthew Harvey to Host New Musical Theatre House Party Cabaret at The Other Palace
Composer and performer Matthew Harvey will launch a new cabaret series, Musical Theatre House Party, at The Other Palace Studio on 25 October. The event promises an informal, spontaneous celebration of musical theatre with West End artists performing unseen set lists.
Musical Theatre House Party will make its debut at The Other Palace Studio in London on Sunday 25 October, hosted by Matthew Harvey. Currently the standby for Sam Ryder’s Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium, Harvey will present an evening featuring two West End performers who receive their set lists only on the night.
The performers will be accompanied by a live band and a musical guest, with further details about the full line-up to be announced. The concept centres on an informal and spontaneous musical energy, offering a departure from the polished cabaret norm.
Harvey describes the format as “somewhere between Graham Norton and a Tiny Desk concert, with a bit of Saturday Night Live thrown in for good measure.” His aim is to allow performers to relax into the moment and showcase their personalities in an intimate setting.
Having begun composing during the pandemic alongside his performing career, Harvey’s work has been showcased at venues such as Hackney Empire, Birmingham Hippodrome and Chichester Festival Theatre. This cabaret series will provide another platform for his creative projects.
Tickets for Musical Theatre House Party are currently on sale through The Other Palace, inviting audiences to an evening of unscripted musical theatre moments. The event seeks to blend the unexpected with live performance, emphasising connection between artist and audience.
This new series reflects a growing appetite for fresh forms of cabaret that foreground spontaneity and authenticity within the West End scene. Musical Theatre House Party offers a chance to see performers off script and in real time, highlighting new creative dynamics.
