Moulin Rouge! marks five years in West End with £25 fan show
Moulin Rouge! The Musical will celebrate its fifth anniversary in London’s West End with a special £25 fan performance at the Piccadilly Theatre. The event also commemorates 25 years since the release of Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film.
The special performance takes place on 11 November at 7pm, with all tickets priced at £25. Tickets will be made available to show subscribers from 18 September, with a general on-sale starting 12 October.
From mid-October, the cast will feature Karis Anderson as Satine and Alistair Brammer as Christian. Other principal roles include James Doherty as Harold Zidler and Daniel Fraser as the Duke, alongside Richard Lloyd King as Toulouse-Lautrec.
The ensemble boasts a wide supporting cast including Ivan De Freitas, Lindsey Tierney, Nick Len, Billie-Kay, Athena Collins, and Angela Marie Hurst as the alternate Satine.
Set in Paris in 1899, the musical tells the story of Christian, an American writer who falls in love with Satine, a performer at the famous Moulin Rouge nightclub. The production uses a book by John Logan and is directed by Alex Timbers with choreography by Sonya Tayeh.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on Luhrmann’s film, blending theatrical spectacle with contemporary music. Its ongoing success in the West End has established it as a popular fixture in London’s theatre scene.
The fan performance offers an accessible way for audiences to engage with the show as it reaches this milestone anniversary, reflecting the enduring appeal of both the stage and screen versions.
