Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson join Park Theatre’s immersive Whodunnit [Unrehearsed] 4
Park Theatre has unveiled the star-studded line-up for Whodunnit [Unrehearsed] 4, returning in May 2026 with an immersive Wild West murder mystery. The fundraising event will see celebrity guests perform unrehearsed as the central Sheriff, blending live earpiece dialogue with audience interaction.
Whodunnit [Unrehearsed] 4 will run from 11 May to 27 June 2026 at Park Theatre, transforming the venue into the fictional Wild West town of Graveside. The entire theatre, from the street outside through foyers, bars and auditoria, will be transformed with themed decoration, including hay bales, barrels and a redesigned exterior streetscape.
Each performance will feature one of seven confirmed celebrity guest sheriffs performing without rehearsal, using an earpiece to receive live lines. The guests are Gillian Anderson, Emma Thompson, Adrian Dunbar, Jim Broadbent, Sandi Toksvig, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Hugh Bonneville, all reprising roles from previous runs. Ian McKellen will return in a voice role throughout the production.
The supporting cast includes Toby Baddeley as Buck Steed, Caroline Deverill as Dawn Frencham, Gabriel Fogarty-Graveson as Jim Ranson, Iona Fraser as Verity Hargreaves, Edward Kaye as James Early, Matthew Romain as Rev Virgil and Susanna Wolff as Meg Frencham.
Park90 will be reimagined as The Last Chance Saloon, providing themed food and drink, live performances and interactive elements to cabaret seating and premium ticket holders. A community chorus will perform across public areas, engaging audiences with scenes and interactions.
Audiences are encouraged to arrive early, dress in costume and take part in activities including a dressing-up station and photo booth, with front-of-house teams in character. The main auditorium will have some seating removed for cabaret-style tables, featuring a house band with piano, banjo, fiddle and percussion.
Whodunnit [Unrehearsed] serves as a key fundraising initiative for Park Theatre, supporting building costs, new writing development and community work. The immersive approach combining celebrity improvisation, audience participation, music and themed hospitality marks a unique theatrical experience.
