Everybody’s Talking About Jamie announces full cast for 10th anniversary UK tour
The hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has revealed its full touring company as it prepares to mark a decade since its Sheffield debut. The new tour includes a freshly written song by composer Dan Gillespie Sells and writer Tom MacRae.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will begin its tenth anniversary tour at Leeds Grand Theatre on 15 January 2027, celebrating ten years since the musical premiered at Sheffield’s Crucible. The production tells the story of 16-year-old Jamie New, who lives on a Sheffield council estate and dreams of becoming a drag queen.
Ashcon Rahmani will make his professional stage debut as Jamie New, with Rebecca Trehearn cast as Jamie’s mother, Margaret New. The role of Miss Hedge will be shared by Kelle Bryan on the tour leg from Leeds to Southampton, and Joanne Clifton from Cheltenham to Newcastle. Drag performer Divina De Campo will play Hugo/Loco Chanelle.
The extensive cast also features Natasha Lewis as Ray, Mariam Pope as Pritti, Matthew Cavan as Tray Sophisticay, and Daniel Jacob as Sandra Bollock. Other cast members include Jenson Steele as Laika Virgin, William Hazell as Dad, and Kyle Dick as Dean, supported by a range of swings and understudies.
Originally opening at the Crucible in 2017, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie transferred to London’s Apollo Theatre later the same year, where it played until 2021. The musical won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical in 2018 and has since enjoyed multiple UK and international tours, including stops in the US, South Korea, Japan, and Italy.
The story is inspired by the documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, which followed Jamie Campbell and his mother, though the stage adaptation fictionalises some elements. The musical’s book and lyrics are by Tom MacRae, with music by Dan Gillespie Sells, and was developed from an idea by Jonathan Butterell, who directed the film adaptation released on Amazon Studios.
This upcoming tour will be directed by Matt Ryan, with design by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Kate Prince, lighting by Lucy Carter, and sound design by Paul Groothuis. Musical supervision will be handled by Theo Jamieson, and casting by Will Burton.
Select tour dates and venues have been confirmed and are available for booking. The 2027 tour presents a milestone moment for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, reflecting on its journey from Sheffield debut to international success.
