Park Theatre announces 2027 season with Jez Butterworth’s Mojo revival
Park Theatre has unveiled its 2027 Park200 season, featuring a revival of Jez Butterworth’s Olivier Award-winning debut play Mojo, alongside new writing and London premieres. The season signals a broad offering of established and emerging voices in theatre.
The 2027 season at Park Theatre will run from January to November, opening with Adam Riches’ The Captain from 12 to 23 January. This production, a Park Theatre and Tigco collaboration, recounts the true story of Captain Matthew Webb, the first man to swim the English Channel, and is directed by Tom Parry with Riches starring.
Following this, Riches’ acclaimed one-man show Jimmy returns for six performances between 14 and 23 January. The London premiere of Katherine Senior’s Spitfire Girls will then run from 27 January to 27 February, directed by Seán Aydon and featuring a cast including Hannah Morrison and Senior herself.
The major revival in the season is the return of Jez Butterworth’s Mojo, staged for the first time in 14 years from 4 March to 10 April. Presented by Park Theatre and Lidless Theatre, Mojo is directed by Max Harrison with design by Kit Hinchcliffe, though further creative and casting details are yet to be announced.
OperaUpClose will stage Gianni Schicchi (or Where There’s A Will) from 14 April to 8 May, a 65-minute reimagining of Puccini’s work rewritten by Hannah Kumari and re-orchestrated by Vahan Salorian. Directed by PJ Harris, the production was originally co-produced with Mayflower Southampton.
Theatre newcomers Max and Ivan will present the world premiere of their comedy The Wedding(s) from 27 May to 3 July, portraying two brothers who find themselves double-booking weddings at their new venue. This production is presented by Wildpark Entertainment in partnership with Park Theatre.
Highlighting Park Theatre’s commitment to Deaf-led and accessible work, Carol Schneider’s The Quiet Revolution of Laurent Clerc premieres from 9 July to 7 August. Directed by Joe Cacaci, the play tells the story of a pioneering figure in Deaf history through a mix of sign language, spoken English and French, mime, and captions.
Concluding the season, Park Theatre will collaborate with Papatango Theatre Company to present the world premiere of the 2026 Papatango New Writing Prize winner from 28 October to 27 November. The winning play will be announced in October 2026, following a selection from 1,913 entries.
Artistic director Jez Bond expressed enthusiasm about the season’s diversity, noting its mix of familiar titles like Mojo alongside new voices and a wide range of storytelling approaches. This varied programme reflects Park Theatre’s ongoing aim to blend established talent with emerging artists.
