Russell Tovey’s The Guilty to transfer to West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre
The Donmar Warehouse’s solo thriller The Guilty, starring Russell Tovey, is set for a West End transfer this January. The production’s move marks a significant step following its sold-out run.
The Guilty, featuring Russell Tovey as police officer Joe, will open at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 27 January 2027, with previews beginning on 16 January. The play runs until 3 April, offering audiences an intense thriller experience centered on a 999 call from a woman in danger.
Written by Chloë Moss and directed by Felix Barrett, the play unfolds as Joe attempts to piece together fragmented clues to locate Emily and understand her perilous situation. The story deepens as Joe’s investigation becomes more fraught, leading him to question what is really happening.
The production has gained notable praise since its premiere at the Donmar Warehouse, where it sold out its run. The Guilty is an adaptation of the film Den Skyldige, written by Gustav Möller and Emil Nygaard Albertsen.
Tovey described the experience of performing the play at the Donmar as unique, saying, “Every single performance … vibrated with an energy I’ve never felt on stage – audience and performer connected and intertwined.” He expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming performances at the Pinter Theatre.
Tickets for The Guilty will start at £30, with over 20,000 available for £40 or less. Public booking opens at 10am on 16 October 2026, allowing ample opportunity for theatre-goers to secure seats.
The creative team behind the West End production includes set designer Alex Eales, lighting designer Anna Watson, sound designer Gareth Fry, and video designer Luke Halls. Felix Barrett returns as director, supported by associate director Elin Schofield, casting director Lotte Hines, and production team members.
This transfer highlights the continued interest in tightly focused, solo theatrical works adapting international film narratives, and showcases Russell Tovey’s growing profile in intimate, high-stakes drama.
