Anne Boleyn: The Musical to play open-air at Greenwich’s Old Royal Naval College
Anne Boleyn: The Musical, which debuted at Hever Castle in summer 2025, will transfer to London for a new outdoor run at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich in 2027. The production explores Boleyn’s early life and rise to prominence in the Tudor court.
Anne Boleyn: The Musical will run at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich from 8 May to 5 June 2027, with a press night scheduled for 12 May. The site is historically significant as the former Palace of Placentia, closely linked to Anne Boleyn’s life and the Tudor court.
The show traces Boleyn’s departure from her family, her time at royal courts in Flanders and France, and her eventual return to England where she captured King Henry VIII’s attention. Presented in a specially constructed, fully covered outdoor auditorium, the production will feature immersive audio and live horses.
Roxana Silbert directs the musical, with a book by Rebecca Night, lyrics by Night and Sam Kenyon, and music composed by Selma Greenwood. It is produced by Historalia Productions and Selladoor Worldwide.
Producer Simon de Merode highlighted the importance of the location: “The Old Royal Naval College stands on the site of Greenwich Palace, where Anne gave birth to the future Elizabeth I. Bringing her story to a place so closely connected to her life makes this next chapter particularly meaningful.”
Silbert spoke of the production’s unique setting, saying it offers “another extraordinary historic setting” to bring Boleyn’s story to life. She emphasised the desire for audiences to engage with the “intelligent, ambitious and complex woman who challenged the expectations of her time.”
Further casting and creative team announcements are yet to be confirmed.
