Dirty Dancing to return to West End’s Prince Edward Theatre in 2027
The beloved musical Dirty Dancing is set for a West End revival at the Prince Edward Theatre in January 2027. The return follows a series of successful runs and reflects ongoing audience appetite for the classic 1987 film adaptation.
Dirty Dancing, based on the iconic 1987 film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, will stage a limited West End season at the Prince Edward Theatre from January 2027. The musical features popular songs such as “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey! Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.”
The show first premiered on the West End in 2006 at the Aldwych Theatre, where it stayed for five years. It later toured internationally and returned to London stages multiple times, including the Piccadilly Theatre in 2013 and the Phoenix Theatre in 2016.
More recent performances took place at the Dominion Theatre in 2022 and 2023. The forthcoming run at the Prince Edward Theatre marks another chapter in the production’s enduring West End presence.
This announcement follows the postponement of the Capital Theatre’s opening, where Dirty Dancing was originally slated to be the inaugural show. Full production details for the 2027 run are yet to be confirmed.
Dirty Dancing’s repeated West End returns highlight the ongoing appeal of musical adaptations of classic films and their ability to sustain lengthy and popular runs in London’s theatre scene.
