Million Dollar Quartet UK tour announced for 2027 following London run
The Barn Theatre’s production of Million Dollar Quartet will embark on a major UK tour in 2027, visiting 23 venues from January to July. This follows its ongoing London engagement and a previous season at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester.
Million Dollar Quartet, directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, will open its UK tour at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff from 26 to 30 January 2027. The production will then travel across England and Scotland, concluding at Malvern Theatres from 12 to 17 July.
The tour’s schedule includes stops at notable venues such as Liverpool Playhouse, Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow, Theatre Royal Windsor, and His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen. The production will also play at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, Derby Theatre, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, and Winter Gardens Blackpool, among others.
The musical tells the story of the famous 1956 recording session that brought together Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins at Sun Records in Memphis. It features songs closely associated with the four artists, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Walk the Line” and “Hound Dog.”
Million Dollar Quartet originated with a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux. The current production was developed at the Barn Theatre as part of its Built by Barn programme following the theatre’s earlier successes with shows such as I’m Sorry Prime Minister, I Can’t Quite Remember.
The show first premiered on Broadway in 2010, earning three Tony Award nominations and winning Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Levi Kreis as Jerry Lee Lewis. It made its West End debut in 2011 at the Noël Coward Theatre and has toured the UK previously in 2016 and 2017.
The ongoing London run will continue until 6 December 2026, notably aligning with the 70th anniversary of the original 1956 recording session, when the production will perform on the exact date of 4 December.
