Royal Variety Performance 2026 line-up unveiled with The Greatest Showman and Idina Menzel

The Royal Variety Performance 2026, scheduled for 20 November, has confirmed a star-studded line-up including the West End cast of The Greatest Showman and original Wicked star Idina Menzel. The event offers a showcase of top musical theatre and vocal talent ahead of its December broadcast.

The Royal Variety Performance 2026 will take place on 20 November, featuring a diverse selection of performances from leading figures in musical theatre and music. Highlights include a preview of “The Greatest Show” from the eagerly anticipated West End adaptation of The Greatest Showman.

Sam Ryder will lead a medley from the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice classic. The cast of Billy Elliot the Musical will also perform the song “Electricity” ahead of the show’s planned return to the West End.

Original Wicked cast member Idina Menzel is set to perform “The Wizard & I,” accompanied on piano by the musical’s composer Stephen Schwartz. This offers a rare live opportunity to hear music from the celebrated show performed by one of its original stars.

In a further musical theatre connection, the cast of Operation Mincemeat will appear with former company members. They will be joined by several military musical ensembles including the Royal Naval Association Choir and bands from the Royal Marines and Irish and Welsh Guards.

Other vocalists confirmed include tenor Alfie Boe, who will lead the national anthem, alongside Andrea Bocelli, Jack Savoretti, James Blunt, and Vanessa Williams. The evening promises a broad palette of vocal styles alongside the theatrical highlights.

Comedy support will come from Milton Jones and Phil Wang, with Jason Manford returning as host for the third time, maintaining the variety and entertainment tone the event is known for.

The Royal Variety Performance 2026 is set for broadcast in December, continuing its tradition as a high-profile showcase of Britain’s leading musical and entertainment talent.
