The Devil Wears Prada musical will receive its German premiere at the Stage Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg in December 2026. Featuring music by Elton John, the production marks an important expansion of this internationally recognised show.
The German premiere of The Devil Wears Prada is set for December 2026 at the Stage Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg. The musical is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel and the 20th Century Studios film adaptation of the same name.
The production features music by Elton John, with lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, and a book by Weisberger and Kate Wetherhead. Direction and choreography are by Jerry Mitchell.
The story follows aspiring journalist Andy, who secures a position at Runway magazine, working for the formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. As Andy navigates the challenges of her job, she becomes deeply involved in the fashion world while reassessing her own ambitions and values.
Currently running at the Dominion Theatre in London, the musical has gained attention for its blend of wit, style and heart. The German premiere adds to its international presence.
Hamburg’s Stage Theater Neue Flora currently houses Disney’s Tarzan, which will continue performances until the end of October 2026 before The Devil Wears Prada begins its run.
Uschi Neuss, managing director of Stage Entertainment Germany, praised the show’s modern appeal and strong female leads, calling it “a devilishly good addition” to Hamburg’s musical offerings. Stage Entertainment Germany operates several theatres and brings a varied slate of musicals to cities including Hamburg, Stuttgart and Berlin.
Ticket pre-sales for the German premiere of The Devil Wears Prada are expected to open soon.
