Cast announced for Sarah Power’s Welcome to Pemfort at Soho Theatre
Casting has been revealed for Welcome to Pemfort, a new play by Sarah Power premiering at Soho Theatre’s Main House in March. The production’s focus on a countryside castle rescue promises a fresh addition to the venue’s new writing programme.
Welcome to Pemfort will run at Soho Theatre from 13 March to 18 April, with a press night scheduled for 18 March. The play, written by Sarah Power, centres on Uma’s attempt to save a struggling countryside castle by organising a Living History event featuring chainmail and sword fighting.
The cast includes Sean Delaney, known for Killing Eve, playing Kurtis; Debra Gillett, whose credits include The Madness of George III, as Uma; Ali Hadji-Heshmati from Lockwood & Co. as Glenn; and Lydia Larson of You Stupid Darkness as Ria.
Ed Madden, director of The Habits, leads the production, with set and costume design by Alys Whitehead and associate designer Victoria Maytom. Lighting design is by Cheng Keng, and sound design by Max Pappenheim.
The production team also comprises Tom Davis-Coleman as production manager, Florence McGlynn as costume supervisor, and Lisa Cochrane as company stage manager. Casting is by Becky Paris, intimacy direction by Georgina Makhubele, and fight direction by Enric Ortuño.
Welcome to Pemfort is part of Soho Theatre’s Main House programme of new writing, alongside plays such as Eoin McAndrew’s Little Brother, David Ireland’s Most Favoured, Miriam Battye’s The Virgins and Dave Harris’s Tender.
This new work by Sarah Power follows her previous play Grud, continuing her exploration of distinctive voices in contemporary theatre.
