Reading Rep announces cast for Noël Coward’s Private Lives revival

Reading Rep Theatre has revealed casting details for its upcoming revival of Noël Coward’s Private Lives, running from 16 April to 19 May. The production features Amy Di Bartolomeo making her company debut and Orla O’Sullivan returning to the venue.

Reading Rep Theatre is set to stage Noël Coward’s Private Lives from mid-April through to 19 May. Amy Di Bartolomeo takes on the role of Amanda, marking her first appearance at Reading Rep. Orla O’Sullivan returns to portray Sybil, the new wife of Amanda’s ex-husband.

The production is directed by Matthew Forbes, who recently led Reading Rep’s 2024 Christmas show, The Snow Queen. Forbes has notable experience that includes puppetry direction on War Horse and directing a new adaptation of Treasure Island by Sandi Toksvig.

The creative team supporting the production includes set and costume designer Kevin Jenkins, lighting designer Elliot Griggs, and sound designer Raffaela Pancucci. Jordan Harris acts as the production manager.

Additional roles behind the scenes feature Jill Green Casting overseeing casting, costume supervision by Sheree Paton, stage management by Josette Shipp, and assistant stage management by Lucy Skinner.

Private Lives is one of Noël Coward’s best-known works, often revived for its sharp wit and exploration of complicated relationships. This Reading Rep staging adds to the theatre’s recent momentum under Forbes’ direction.

Details such as ticket availability and performance times are to be confirmed by Reading Rep, completing what appears to be a traditionally styled approach to the classic Coward play.
