Nicole-Lily Baisden joins Top Hat UK tour as new lead Dale Tremont
The UK touring production of Top Hat has announced a casting update, with Nicole-Lily Baisden taking over the lead role of Dale Tremont from Amara Okereke. The move marks a notable change in the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers-inspired musical currently on the road.
Nicole-Lily Baisden will assume the role of Dale Tremont in the ongoing UK tour of Top Hat from 13 March. The production is a stage adaptation of the 1935 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
The show features iconic Irving Berlin songs such as “Cheek to Cheek”, “Let’s Face the Music and Dance”, “Top Hat, White Tie and Tails” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.” Phillip Attmore currently plays Jerry Travers, alongside Emma Williams as Madge Hardwick and James Hume as Horace Hardwick.
The production is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, with a book by Matthew White and Howard Jacques. The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (set and costume design), Gareth Valentine (musical supervision), and Chris Walker (orchestration and arrangement), among others.
The tour is currently performing in Birmingham and will continue to Aberdeen, Norwich, Salford and Southampton. A season in Paris is also scheduled for later this spring.
The ensemble cast features a wide company including Lindsay Atherton, Rhiannon Bacchus, Jeremy Batt, Freddie Clements, and others supporting the principal roles. Associate directors and designers bolster the production’s creative framework.
Top Hat remains a staple example of classic musical theatre touring in the UK, showcasing timeless songs and choreography while sustaining audience interest through casting updates mid-run.
