Punchdrunk’s immersive Lander 23 announces closing date for May 2026

Punchdrunk has confirmed that its live-action video game experience Lander 23 will conclude its run on 10 May 2026 at its Woolwich venue. The production’s extended schedule reflects ongoing audience engagement with its unique interactive format.

Lander 23, Punchdrunk’s immersive show described as a live-action video game, will make its final mission on 10 May 2026 at the company’s dedicated space in Woolwich. Initially scheduled as a limited engagement, the production added further dates in January to extend performances until mid-2026.

The audience is split into two teams—Command (Drivers) and Ground Team (Fields). Fields explore an alien landscape, while Drivers remain aboard a ship and guide them through voice communication. This participatory experience requires players to rely on communication and collaboration rather than passive observation.

Felix Barrett, Punchdrunk’s co-founder, conceived, directed, and designed Lander 23. The production is co-directed by Kath Duggan and Joel Scott. Designers Livi Vaughan and Beatrice Minns contributed to the visual concept, with lighting by Barrett and Sarah Readman.

Sound design is by Gareth Fry, and Bruno Cordeiro provided video visual design. The game system that powers the interactive elements was developed by Meaning Machine.

Lander 23 expands Punchdrunk’s reputation for immersive theatre by fully integrating player agency within the narrative structure, layering technology and live performance in a collaborative format.

The production’s Woolwich venue has become a site for cutting-edge immersive work, with Lander 23 representing a further experimentation in audience interaction and storytelling techniques.
