Ramin Karimloo and Meow Meow lead Sweeney Todd revival cast at the Rep

The Rep has revealed the full cast for its upcoming revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, featuring Ramin Karimloo as the vengeful barber and Meow Meow as Mrs Lovett. The production reunites a strong creative team and is set for summer 2026.

The multi-award-winning Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler musical, based on Christopher Bond’s adaptation, centres on a barber consumed by revenge. This new revival will run at the Rep from 4 July to 9 August 2026.

Director Joe Murphy, the theatre’s artistic director, will lead the production, with design by Elin Steele and musical supervision by John Rigby. Joe Murphy expressed enthusiasm about working on the show, describing it as Sondheim’s “darkly comic musical masterpiece.”

The cast includes Olivier Award-winner David Bedella as Judge Turpin, Shem Omari James as Anthony Hope, Jo Stephenson as Johanna, Julius D’Silva as Beadle, and Jack Gibson as Tobias Ragg. Florence Andrews appears as Beggar Woman, Silas Wyatt-Barke as Adolfo Pirelli, with Emily Ivana Hawkins and Hadrian Delacey completing the ensemble.

The broader creative team features Rory Beaton as lighting designer, Kelsh Buckman-Drage on sound, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda as movement director, Abby Galvin as casting director, Leo Munby musical director, Christopher Mundy associate conductor, and David Gallagher overseeing orchestral management.

This announcement arrives as the Rep prepares to mount a high-profile production of one of musical theatre’s darker narratives, bringing together a cast and crew experienced in delivering Sondheim’s complex compositions and layered storytelling.
