Rachel Zegler has added an Olivier Award to her growing list of accolades following her West End debut in Evita. The rising star has teased a new film musical project, leaving fans eager for details.
Rachel Zegler received the Olivier Award for her performance in the Jamie Lloyd–directed revival of Evita, after previously winning the fan-voted WhatsOnStage Award. She described the role as “titanic” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform such a demanding part.
The actress, who rose to fame with her film debut as Maria in West Side Story and more recently played Snow White in Disney’s live-action remake, revealed she pushed her agent to submit her for the Evita revival. “I just felt so lucky, because this is just such a titanic part that you just desperately want to play,” she said in her acceptance speech.
Zegler has not yet confirmed specific details about her next film musical but responded to rumours with a hopeful “Here’s hoping,” when asked if she had any upcoming screen musicals lined up. Her Instagram posts have sparked speculation, especially around Lin-Manuel Miranda’s upcoming movie Octet.
Though she has not officially confirmed involvement in Octet, Zegler acknowledged the chatter, saying, “People really love to ask about that…” She recently told Harper’s Bazaar she is preparing for a new screen role by listening to a cast recording.
Most recently, Zegler shared on Instagram that she is leaving London to start filming on another project, though details remain under wraps. Her fans and the industry alike are watching closely for news on her next move.
This marks a significant moment in Zegler’s career as she transitions from stage success back into screen projects, highlighting the ongoing synergy between theatre and musical film in contemporary popular culture.
