Skylar Astin and Sarah Hyland will join the West End production of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club this autumn, stepping into the leading roles of the Emcee and Sally Bowles. Their casting marks a fresh chapter in the show’s historic run as it approaches its 60th anniversary.

Astin and Hyland will begin performances on 21 September 2026, taking over from Jamie Muscato and Joy Woods in the iconic roles. The production is currently booking through to 18 September 2027 at the Kit Kat Club.

Joining them in the new cast are Ronan Burns as Ernst Ludwig, Lindsay Atherton in dual roles as Fraulein Kost and Fritzie, and a supporting ensemble including Lily Frances, Peter Houston, Samuel How, and others. Returning cast members include Baker Mukasa as Clifford Bradshaw, Ruthie Henshall as Fraulein Schneider, and Robert Hands as Herr Schultz.

The show recently surpassed 1,900 performances, making it the longest-running West End iteration of Cabaret. This milestone coincides with the musical’s 60th anniversary since its Broadway premiere in November 1966, as well as the fifth anniversary of Rebecca Frecknall’s critically acclaimed West End revival, which opened in November 2021.

A celebratory performance of the production will be held on 20 November, with a limited number of specially priced tickets offered to mark the occasion.

The production features the music of John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff. It is based on John Van Druten’s play and Christopher Isherwood’s stories, featuring well-known songs including “Willkommen,” “Maybe This Time,” and the title number.

Direction is by Rebecca Frecknall, with set and costume design by Tom Scutt. The creative team also includes choreographer Julia Cheng, musical supervisor Jennifer Whyte, musical director Ben van Tienen, and lighting designer Isabella Byrd among others.

Astin’s final performance as the Emcee is scheduled for 12 December 2026, while Hyland will conclude her role as Sally Bowles on 23 January 2027, according to the production’s announcement.
