Secret Cinema reveals cast for immersive Pirates of the Caribbean show in London

Secret Cinema has announced the principal cast for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure, which will premiere in London in 2027. Following strong demand, the production’s run has been extended by six weeks.

The immersive production of Pirates of the Caribbean will begin previews on 16 February 2027 at Secret Cinema’s purpose-built venue on Greenwich Peninsula, with an official opening set for 10 March. The show offers audiences a unique theatrical experience combining live performances, stunts, a live band, and selected film clips from the original Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Leading the cast is George Maguire, an Olivier Award and WhatsOnStage winner, as Captain Jack Sparrow. Phil Daniels will play Captain Barbossa, while Lily Blunsom, Harrison Wilde and Gleanne Purcell-Brown take on the roles of Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner and Anamaria respectively. Further casting announcements are expected.

The production is directed by Olivier Award winner Matt Costain, with a creative team that includes production designer Jason Sherwood and theatrical adaptor Kait Kerrigan. Musical supervision and additional orchestration come from Alan Williams, while costumes and hair and make-up are designed by Susan Kulkarni and Helen Keane of Campbell Young Associates. Fight direction is by Alex Payne.

Secret Cinema describes the show as “bold, mischievous, wildly entertaining,” inviting audiences to explore the sets, interact with characters, and take part in the action over the approximately two-hour experience. It marks the first time the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been adapted into an immersive theatrical format.

Merritt Baer, artistic director and producer at Secret Cinema, emphasised the ambition of bringing this beloved world to life, highlighting the production’s scale and immersive nature. The new venue at Greenwich Peninsula will serve as Secret Cinema’s long-term London home, with the Pirates of the Caribbean adaptation its inaugural production.

Located near North Greenwich station and the O2, the purpose-built venue is designed to accommodate large-scale immersive shows, signalling an investment in the future of immersive theatre experiences in the capital.
