Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer return to Christmas Carol Goes Wrong in West End
Mischief alumni Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer will rejoin the cast of Christmas Carol Goes Wrong for a two-week stint at Wyndham’s Theatre in January 2027. Their return marks a brief West End reprise following a run in the US.
Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer, original Mischief company members, will reprise their roles as Robert and Dennis respectively from 14 to 23 January 2027 in the West End production of Christmas Carol Goes Wrong. This run at Wyndham’s Theatre follows the show’s US stint, with an additional matinee scheduled for Wednesday 20 January.
The production’s overall run at Wyndham’s Theatre spans from 18 December 2026 to 23 January 2027. Until 13 January, the West End cast includes James Akka as Dennis and Matthew Howell as Robert, with Sayer and Lewis taking over these roles from 14 January. Other cast members include Adam Elliott as Chris, Dave Hearn as Max until 23 January, and Jay Olpin set to replace him from 26 January.
Luke Pierre, Aein Nasseri, Dumile Sibanda, and Ashley Tucker play Jonathan, Trevor, Annie, and Sandra, respectively. The understudy ensemble comprises Billie Hamer, Robert Lane, Claire Lee Shenfield, Jamie Sandersfield, and Josh Patel-Foster.
Christmas Carol Goes Wrong was penned by Lewis, Sayer, and Henry Shields. It follows the Cornley Amateur Drama Society’s disastrous attempt to stage Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The show originally premiered at the Apollo Theatre last year, where it played to sold-out audiences.
Direction is by Matt DiCarlo, supported by a creative team including set designer Libby Todd, costume designer Roberto Surace, lighting designer David Howe, and sound designer and composer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite. The West End production is produced by Kenny Wax and Stage Presence.
This two-week return of original Mischief company members highlights the ongoing popularity of the Christmas-themed farce in the London theatre scene.
