Back to the Future the Musical Extends UK Tour with New Dates and Venues
Back to the Future the Musical is gearing up for its first UK tour, opening in Bristol in October 2026, with additional dates recently announced across the country. The production continues the story of the iconic 1985 film, offering fans new and classic songs in a national theatre run.
Back to the Future the Musical, based on the 1985 Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, will launch its UK tour in Bristol in October 2026. The tour has expanded its schedule to include performances at Manchester Opera House, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Birmingham Hippodrome, Alhambra Theatre in Bradford, and the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff running through 2027.
The show stars the beloved characters Marty McFly and Dr Emmett Brown, originally played by Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. It features new music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award winner Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy winner Glen Ballard, alongside hits from the film such as “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B Goode.”
Currently playing at London’s Adelphi Theatre, the West End production is set to close in April 2026, shortly before the tour begins. The musical has already garnered multiple accolades, including the WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards for Best New Musical.
Internationally, Back to the Future the Musical has been staged in Australia, North America, Japan, and even on Royal Caribbean Cruises, attracting over four million viewers globally. The touring production is directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando, with creative design by Tim Hatley, Chris Bailey, Chris Fisher, Tim Lutkin, Hugh Vanstone, Gareth Owen, and Finn Ross.
Musical supervision is led by Nick Finlow, with orchestrations from Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, supplemented by David Chase’s dance arrangements. Casting is managed by David Grindrod for Grindrod Burton Casting.
Marking the 40th anniversary of the original film in 2025, which grossed $360.6 million worldwide, the Back to the Future franchise has become a lasting cultural phenomenon. This tour promises to bring the time-travelling adventure to a broad UK audience over an extended run.
