Bliss musical to premiere at 2026 Edinburgh Fringe’s Pleasance Courtyard
Bliss, touted as the biggest new musical of the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe, will make its festival debut at the Pleasance Courtyard this summer, offering audiences a fresh tale of sisterhood and self-discovery.
Bliss is set to run at the Edinburgh Fringe from 5 to 31 August 2026, with daily 1pm performances lasting 80 minutes. The musical is presented by Susan Edelstein Productions, ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions, marking a significant new entry in the festival’s musical theatre lineup.
The story follows four sisters who leave the confines of their tower to explore the outside world, where conventional fairy tale notions of happy endings are challenged. The narrative centres on themes of joy, friendship, sisterhood and the search for one’s true self.
Directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller, Bliss features a book, music and lyrics by Emma Lively and Tyler Beattie. The creative team brings a fresh voice to the musical with a contemporary approach to storytelling.
The piece previously premiered in workshop presentations at London’s Sadler’s Wells in 2025, with cast members including Kayna Montecillo, Dujonna Gift, Sam Tutty and Josefina Gabrielle. However, casting for the August festival run has yet to be announced.
Kaller said Bliss is “a new, original, musical that celebrates joy, friendship, sisterhood, and finding one’s true self.” She added that the production aims to leave a lasting impression on audiences with memorable songs.
The musical’s arrival at the Pleasance Courtyard underscores the Edinburgh Fringe’s continued commitment to incubating new work that combines innovative storytelling with strong musical elements, making it an anticipated highlight of the 2026 festival.
