West End’s Hercules announces final extension and closing date for 2026
Disney’s Hercules musical has confirmed a final extension at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, with its last performance scheduled for 5 September 2026. The news marks the conclusion of the West End run of the Alan Menken-scored show.
Hercules, based on the 1997 Walt Disney animated film directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, began its West End run last summer at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The production features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by David Zippel, and a new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah.
Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with co-choreography by Tanisha Scott, the musical has attracted attention for its lively staging and engaging cast. The cast includes Luke Brady as Hercules, Mae Ann Jorolan as Meg, Trevor Dion Nicholas as Phil, and Stephen Carlile as Hades.
The show also features the Muses Leslie Beehann (Calliope), Candace Furbert (Thalia), Sharlene Hector (Clio), Brianna Ogunbawo (Melpomene), and Robyn Rose-Li (Terpsichore), supported by standby Muses Kamilla Fernandes and Kimmy Edwards. Craig Gallivan and Lee Zarrett complete the ensemble as Bob and Charles.
Hercules received critical recognition during its run, earning three WhatsOnStage Awards nominations including Best New Musical. The original animated film was awarded Best Animation Feature by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Go the Distance.”
The extension ensures the show will continue entertaining audiences at Theatre Royal Drury Lane until September 2026, after which the production will close. The final curtain will bring to a close a notable chapter in recent Disney musical adaptations on the West End.
