Bradley Walsh to host Raise the Roof! fundraiser for Denville Hall centenary
Bradley Walsh will host Raise the Roof!, a West End fundraiser at the Victoria Palace Theatre on 1 November, marking the centenary of Denville Hall and Elstree Studios. The event aims to support Denville Hall’s £26 million Centenary Appeal to enhance care facilities for retired entertainment professionals.
Raise the Roof! is set to bring together a range of performers and figures from film, television, theatre, and music to raise funds for Denville Hall’s Centenary Appeal. The fundraiser takes place at the Victoria Palace Theatre and commemorates 100 years since both Denville Hall and Elstree Studios were established.
Denville Hall, which opened on 19 July 1926, has long provided care for retired actors and actresses and now extends its services to all entertainment professionals, including specialist dementia care. The home allows residents to stay connected to the performing arts throughout their stay.
Elstree Studios, also celebrating its centenary this year, has been a significant production base for generations of actors, directors, writers, producers, technicians, and craftspeople working in film and television.
Proceeds from the event will support Denville Hall’s ambitious £26 million appeal, which includes plans to build two new assisted living buildings and add facilities such as a café, restaurant, cinema, rehabilitation and yoga studios, and a gym. The gardens will be redesigned to improve wheelchair access.
The appeal’s fundraising goal is split equally between construction costs and Alfred’s Fund, an endowment named after Denville Hall’s founder Alfred Denville, which will help cover running costs for the next century. The campaign is backed by Presidents Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, and Daniel Radcliffe.
Bradley Walsh, the evening’s host, said the event is “really special” as it celebrates the shared history of Elstree and Denville Hall. He highlighted the impact both institutions have had on the entertainment community.
Tickets for Raise the Roof! are priced from £35 and are currently on sale. Further participants for the fundraiser will be announced in due course.
