Catherine Tate joins cast as Oh, Mary! extends West End run to 2026
Tony Award winner Cole Escola’s Broadway comedy Oh, Mary! has extended its West End run until July 2026, with Catherine Tate set to take over the lead role. The production also announced further casting changes in its ongoing run.
Oh, Mary!, a historically dubious wartime comedy about Mary Todd Lincoln, continues its West End engagement with an extended booking until 18 July 2026. Mason Alexander Park, a WhatsOnStage Award nominee, currently leads the cast as Mary Todd Lincoln and will play their final performance on 25 April.
From 27 April, Catherine Tate will assume the role of Mary Todd Lincoln, marking a significant casting change in the production. Giles Terera, who portrays Mary’s husband, will depart the show on 14 March. His role will be taken over by Scott Karim from 16 March.
The West End premiere cast also includes Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher, Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, and Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant. The show is directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton.
Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway in 2024 to critical acclaim and combines sharp comedy with a reimagining of the life of Mary Todd Lincoln. The play follows the bored, alcoholic housewife who dreams of a cabaret career while struggling with the demands of her closeted husband, the president.
The production’s extended run and fresh casting reflect continued audience enthusiasm for the quirky play, which was praised by WhatsOnStage’s Sarah Crompton as “80 minutes of perfectly judged silliness.”
