Divina De Campo joins London cast of Ride the Cyclone at Southwark Playhouse

Divina De Campo will take on the role of The Amazing Karnak in the upcoming London revival of Ride the Cyclone at Southwark Playhouse. The production returns following its successful 2025 run, with additional seats now available for the summer 2026 engagement.

Ride the Cyclone, a musical by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, follows six teenagers trapped in limbo after a roller-coaster accident. Each character is given one last chance to plead for a return to life. Divina De Campo joins the cast as The Amazing Karnak, adding star power to the production reopening at Southwark Playhouse Elephant.

The show will run from 19 June to 22 August 2026, with extra tickets released after the original sold-out 2025 run broke box office records for the venue. Divina De Campo joins a cast including Josh Butler as Noel, Grace Galloway as Jane Doe, Robyn Gilbertson as Constance, Bartek Kraszewski as Mischa, Jack Maverick as Ricky, and Kayna Montecillo as Ocean. Swings Rebecca D’Lacey and Nathaniel Purnell complete the ensemble, with Purnell also serving as dance captain.

Director and choreographer Lizzi Gee leads the creative team, supported by musical director Ben McQuigg. The production team includes set and costume designer Ryan Dawson Laight alongside specialists in lighting, sound, video, illusion, and make-up. The musical’s band features McQuigg (conductor and keys), Jennifer Deacon (keys), Daniel Kemshall (guitars), Hamish Barry (cello and bass), and Ollie Peszynski (drums).

Originating in British Columbia in 2008, Ride the Cyclone has since seen productions across North America, Sydney and Buenos Aires. Its UK debut at Southwark Playhouse in 2025 received critical acclaim and established a strong audience following. The musical is licensed by Concord Theatricals and produced in London by Kevin McCollum, Morris Berchard, and Jack Maple.

De Campo expressed enthusiasm about joining the show, describing it as “a hilarious and tongue-in-cheek musical” with “catchy” songs and a story that is “both tragic and side-splitting.” They also noted their excitement about performing at Southwark Playhouse after previously attending shows and presenting awards there.

Divina De Campo will be absent from several performances including Saturdays 4 and 18 July, Fridays 24 and 31 July, and weekends spanning 1 to 2 August. The show’s cast and creative team will continue to bring this blend of humour and pathos to London audiences over the summer months.
