Full cast revealed for Little Shop of Horrors revival at Northern Stage and Derby
Derby Theatre and Northern Stage have announced the complete cast for their new production of Little Shop of Horrors, set to run in May and June 2026. The revival promises a fresh take on the cult musical with an actor-musician format and a skilled ensemble.
The revival of Little Shop of Horrors will open at Northern Stage from 8 to 23 May 2026, before transferring to Derby Theatre from 30 May to 20 June 2026. Kristian Cunningham will star as Seymour, with Amena El-Kindy taking the role of Audrey.
The trio of Chiffon, Crystal, and Ronette will be played by Emmanuella Chede, Shekinah McFarlane, and Chioma Uma respectively. Tasha Dowd will provide the voice of the menacing plant Audrey II, with Ross Lennon puppeteering alongside her.
David Rankine has been cast as Orin, Jon Bonner will appear as Mr Mushnik, and ensemble members Wilf Stone and Hannah Woodward will also cover the roles of Audrey and Seymour during matinee performances on 20 May at Northern Stage and 18 June at Derby Theatre. Amy Gray joins as the company’s drummer.
The creative team includes Sarah Brigham directing, Matthew Malone as orchestrator and musical supervisor, Verity Quinn designing set and costumes, and Myles Brown choreographing. Additional roles include Ben Glover overseeing AV and captions, Sian Campbell as musical director, and John Barber as puppet director.
With music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Little Shop of Horrors centres on Seymour, a flower shop worker who discovers a bloodthirsty plant. The show features classic numbers such as “Skid Row (Downtown),” “Suddenly Seymour,” and “Feed Me (Git It!).”
Derby Theatre will provide accessible performances in June 2026, including BSL-interpreted, audio-described, dementia-friendly, and relaxed shows. This production is distinct from other Little Shop of Horrors revivals scheduled for Manchester, Liverpool and Exeter later in 2026.
