Gillian Anderson and Billy Crudup lead Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? full cast at Soho Place

The West End production of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? has revealed its full cast and released 5,500 front row seats ahead of its September 2026 run at Soho Place.

Gillian Anderson and Billy Crudup will star as Martha and George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, beginning performances on 21 September 2026 with a press night on 30 September. The production is directed in the round by Marianne Elliott and runs until 19 December 2026.

Josh Dylan and Phoebe Horn join Anderson and Crudup as the younger couple, Nick and Honey, who become entangled in a night of psychological games within the narrative. Understudies for the company include Alex Cartuson, Jessica Kirton, Georgia Miles, and Simon Willmont covering the four main roles.

Edward Albee’s seminal play explores the destructive dynamics between the couples over the course of an evening following a faculty party. The production’s design team features Miriam Buether on design, James Farncombe on lighting, and Ian Dickinson on sound.

Casting directors Jim Carnahan and Liz Fraser have overseen the casting process, supported by movement and intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon, voice and dialect coach Charmian Hoare, and fight director Sam Lyon-Behan. The show’s artwork was supplied by Sonia Friedman Productions and Nica Burns.

This announcement assembles a high-profile creative and acting team for the revival, highlighting continuing interest in Albee’s work on the London stage. Audiences can expect a fresh interpretation mounted by well-established theatre practitioners.
