Hot Mess musical announces full cast for London return at The Other Palace
The romcom musical Hot Mess, from the creators of 42 Balloons, has revealed its full cast for the upcoming London run at The Other Palace. The production explores the climate crisis through the metaphor of a troubled relationship between Earth and Humanity.
Hot Mess, which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and transferred to Southwark Playhouse Elephant, will play at The Other Palace from 13 June to 6 September 2026, with a national press night on 23 June 2026. The story personifies Earth and Humanity as lovers facing collapse, using this relationship to explore urgent environmental themes.
The show is written and directed by Ellie Coote, with music and lyrics by Jack Godfrey. Godfrey won Best Composer, Lyricist or Book Writer at The Stage Debut Awards in 2024 for 42 Balloons, which was also nominated for a WhatsOnStage Award.
Danielle Steers returns to Hot Mess as Earth, and Morgan Gregory joins as Humanity. Mia Quimpo and Nathan Shaw are cast as covers, respectively, for Earth and Humanity. Coote and Godfrey expressed their enthusiasm, highlighting Gregory as a “triple threat performer” and praising Steers for her previous performances in Edinburgh and London.
The creative team includes music supervision and co-orchestrations by Joe Beighton, choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento, and set design by Shankho Chaudhuri. Other key members are lighting designer Ryan Joseph Stafford, costume designer Sarah Mercadé, and musical director Sara De Sanctis.
Supporting roles behind the scenes include dramaturg Deirdre O’Halloran, associate director Lydia Cook, and associate choreographer Taz Hoesli. The production’s stage management is led by Rosie Morgan, with James Anderton as production manager.
Hot Mess is produced collaboratively by Vicky Graham Productions, Birmingham Hippodrome, Aria Entertainment, Global Creative, TRW Production, and RJG Productions as General Managers, continuing a partnership built with the team’s previous successful musical.
