Improvised hip hop musical Shamilton! announces London run at Other Palace

Shamilton!, the improvised hip hop musical comedy from Baby Wants Candy, will play a London season at the Other Palace in September 2026. The show’s unique format and previous sold-out Edinburgh Fringe runs have built a devoted following.

Shamilton!, created in Los Angeles in 2016, is a musical inspired by Hamilton. Each night the cast makes up a fresh performance based on a historical figure or celebrity suggested by the audience, complete with improvised songs, choreography and dialogue.

The production has enjoyed sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023, 2024 and 2025, demonstrating its growing popularity among UK audiences. The London season at the Other Palace will run from 8 to 20 September, with evening and matinee performances throughout the week.

The cast includes Adam Payne, Allen Lucas, Anna Bortnik, Chris Grace, Daniel Tepper, Lily Ludwig and Will Naameh, with Adrien Pellerin serving as musical director. The show is produced by Al Samuels.

Baby Wants Candy has staged over 3,000 improvised musicals internationally. The company operates troupes in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York and has seen alumni such as Aidy Bryant, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Middleditch, Lauren Conlin Adams, Jessica McKenna and Nicole Parker go on to wider success.

Shamilton! runs for one hour and 50 minutes including an interval, with performances at 7.30pm Tuesday to Saturday, 2.30pm on Saturdays, and 2pm and 6pm on Sundays.

The show’s expanding footprint illustrates the continuing appeal of improvisational theatre in musical form, particularly styles drawing on hip hop and contemporary culture.
