Little Piece of You musical announces workshop with Zoe Birkett and Jodie Steele
A workshop presentation of Little Piece of You: An Atypical Musical is set for March at Sadler’s Wells, continuing development after sold-out Drury Lane concerts. The production explores family drama through a contemporary rock and pop score.
Little Piece of You will hold a workshop showing on Friday 6 March at the Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler’s Wells. This closed presentation for invited guests marks the next phase of the show’s evolution following two sold-out concert performances earlier in 2024 at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
The musical centres on ageing rock star Sydney and young singer-songwriter Sara as they confront deep-seated family tensions. The score mixes raw family drama with the energy of contemporary rock and pop music.
The workshop cast features Jodie Steele in the role of Sydney, Zoe Birkett as Jules, and David Bedella playing Roger. Madison Swan, Emma Crossley, and Kjersti Long complete the principal line-up alongside Simon Anthony, Eloise Davies, Luke Latchman, Gino Ochello, and Lorren Santo-Quinn.
Little Piece of You includes music and lyrics by Kjersti Long, who also performs as Sara, and a book by Melissa Leilani Larson. The creative team comprises music supervisor Katy Richardson, director Joshua Long, choreographer Jonnie Riordan, and sound designer Nick Lodge.
The workshop is produced collaboratively by Origin Entertainment, Van Dean Productions and 42nd.club, with New Road Theatricals providing general management. The musical’s origins trace back to its initial development under the title Relative Space at Creekside Theater Group.
This presentation underscores the ongoing revision of the book and an expanded score as the musical progresses from concert format to a fully realised theatrical work.
