Matilda The Musical reveals new West End cast for 15th anniversary season

Matilda The Musical has announced a refreshed cast as it marks 15 years in London’s West End. The Royal Shakespeare Company production continues its long-running success while also sustaining a national tour across the UK and Ireland.

Matilda The Musical, based on Roald Dahl’s novel and penned by Dennis Kelly with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, will introduce new cast members in its London production. The show, which recently celebrated becoming the tenth longest-running West End musical, is now welcoming Matt Corner as Mr Wormwood, Amy Ross as Mrs Wormwood, and Lucy St. Louis as Miss Honey.

Jon Robyns remains in the iconic role of Miss Trunchbull, while Lucy St. Louis will commence her performances as Miss Honey in January 2027, succeeding Eve Norris who continues until 17 January. The young lead role of Matilda will be shared by Lola Judd, Scarlett Lindsey, and Sachie Sheridan from 15 September 2026, alongside existing cast member Sithuni Gamage.

The ensemble sees a mix of new and returning performers including Molly Cleere, Pedr Davies, Will Haswell, and Charlotte-Kate Warren who join longstanding company members such as Alex Louize Bird and Antony Lawrence. The production’s vibrant young cast also expands with fresh talent portraying characters like Bruce, Lavender, and Nigel.

Directed by Matthew Warchus and designed by Rob Howell, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s acclaimed staging features choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker, and special effects by Paul Kieve. It is renowned for songs like “Quiet”, “Naughty”, and “Revolting Children”.

Matilda The Musical has amassed over 100 awards worldwide, including 25 for Best Musical, securing its status as a staple of contemporary British theatre. A film adaptation was released in 2022 and is now available on Netflix, broadening the show’s audience.

Alongside its ongoing West End run, Matilda continues to tour across theatres in the UK and Ireland, extending until January 2027. This dual presence underscores the show’s enduring appeal and its ability to engage new audiences.
