Frequently Asked Questions

When is Mrs Doubtfire the Musical in Liverpool in 2027?

Mrs Doubtfire the Musical is scheduled at Liverpool Empire Theatre from 2 March 2027 to 21 March 2027, with performances across weekdays and weekends during this three-week run.

Where is Mrs Doubtfire showing in Liverpool?

The musical will be staged at Liverpool Empire Theatre on Lime Street, a large city-centre venue that regularly hosts major West End and UK touring productions, including big family musicals.

What is the plot of Mrs Doubtfire the Musical?

The story follows Daniel Hillard, an out-of-work actor and devoted but chaotic dad who loses shared custody of his children after a painful divorce and is desperate to stay close to them. He disguises himself as Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire to get hired into his own family home, which leads to hilarious misunderstandings, high-energy musical numbers, and moving scenes as his double life teaches him what it really means to be a better father.

Is the musical similar to the original Mrs Doubtfire film?

The musical keeps the heart of the much-loved 1993 film, including the main characters, the nanny disguise, and many of the key emotional and comic moments. At the same time it adds new original songs, modern jokes, and fresh staging while still focusing on themes of family, honesty, co-parenting, and second chances, so audiences get both nostalgia and something new.

Has Mrs Doubtfire the Musical received any awards or nominations?

The Broadway production received several major nominations, including a Tony Award nomination for the leading actor and multiple Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominations for the show and performances. It also won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Wig and Hair Design, highlighting the impressive transformation work that helps bring Mrs Doubtfire’s distinctive look to life on stage.

How long does the performance of Mrs Doubtfire usually last?

The show typically runs for about 2 hours and 30 minutes including one interval, which is similar to many big musical comedies. It is a good idea to arrive around 30 minutes before the start time so you can get through any checks, find your seat, and settle in before the curtain goes up.

Is Mrs Doubtfire in Liverpool suitable for children and families?

Mrs Doubtfire is designed as a family-friendly comedy musical with colourful staging, physical humour, and catchy songs that older children and teenagers often enjoy. Because it includes themes of divorce, dating, and some mild language and innuendo, it is generally recommended for families with school-age children rather than very young kids, and parents can decide what feels right for their family.

How can I get cheap tickets for Mrs Doubtfire in Liverpool?

To find cheaper tickets, compare prices for different dates and seating areas, as midweek performances and seats further from the stage or higher up in the auditorium are usually more affordable than Friday and Saturday evenings or premium stalls. Booking early normally gives you a wider choice of lower-priced ticket bands, and being flexible with your date can help you avoid the busiest, highest-priced performances.

Are there any discounts or special offers for Mrs Doubtfire tickets in Liverpool?

There may be discounts such as group rates, early-booking deals, or limited-time promotions offered by ticket sellers or the theatre during the Liverpool run. If you are going with family or friends, check whether there are reduced prices for groups, family tickets, or off-peak performances like midweek evenings or some matinees, as these can lower the cost per person.

What is the best time to book tickets if I want to save money?

Booking as soon as you know you want to go is usually the best way to secure good-value seats before the most popular sections and dates sell out. If you can be flexible, look at early dates in the run, Tuesday to Thursday evenings, or selected matinees rather than the busiest weekend performances, and consider choosing seats slightly further back for a better balance between price and view.

Will there be accessible performances and facilities for Mrs Doubtfire in Liverpool?

Liverpool Empire Theatre offers accessible seating such as wheelchair spaces, step-free routes, and companion seats, and often schedules selected accessible performances with services like audio description or captioning. When booking for Mrs Doubtfire, mention any access requirements so you can be guided to suitable seating and advised on the most appropriate performance dates for additional support.

Why is the Liverpool 2027 run of Mrs Doubtfire special?

The Liverpool dates are part of the first major UK and Ireland tour of the hit West End musical and bring the full-scale production to Merseyside audiences for the first time. It offers the chance to see a big, modern family musical with award-nominated creative work and a beloved story, combining memories of the original film with new songs, energetic choreography, and a warm message about family and second chances.
